Questions

1.  Why not put AdSense on here to recoup some costs?

A.  The purpose of the group blog is to review other shopkeepers designs.  Thus we will have a lot of content on different shirts, prints, etc.  My experience with AdSense on my own site leads me to believe the ads will be chok full of other t-shirt sites.  This would only send traffic away from the group blog and away from the participating shopkeepers which is not the purpose of the site.

2.  Can anyone create a post?

A.  At this point you must be a shopkeeper participating in the review idea to create a post.  The privileges are assigned by the admin or other Editors.

3.  Can a participating shopkeeper create a post that isn’t a review?

A.  Good question.  Not sure, we will have to discuss this as a group, but I don’t see why not if it follows the general rules of content.  We could simply create a new category.

4.  Who is paying for the site? Do I have to pay as a partcipating shopkeeper?

A.  The site is “owned” and paid for by one of the participants.  The owner of the Ha Ha Shirt Shop is the owner of this site and has paid for its domain & hosting.  Participating shopkeepers do not have to pay anything. My theory is that the exposure and increased traffic to my shop by creating this site & participating will result in enough sales / year to pay for the group blog.  If not, my loss.

5.  Blogging is fun, how do I get my own?

A.1.  There are several blogging tools out there that allow you to create your own blog for free.  Blogger (blogger.com) is the first that comes to mind.  These are blogs that are hosted by some company and as such the domain name (website address) is going to have the hosting company’s name in it - for example:  yourblogname.blogspot.com.

A.2.  If you want your own website with blog software (such as wordpress), then you will need to register a domain name, find a hosting company that offers blogging software, and pay for both.  There are a lot of options on this front and a best fit for your needs will depend entirely on your needs, knowledge, time, $, etc.
